The Feathers in Blue
£95.00This range of kits is based on the centuries old tradition of Bargello stitching. Bargello designs use a combination of long stitches and repeat patterns to create geometric designs, with the designs ranging from simple repeats of constant stitch lengths (like our Flame design) to more advanced designs combining multiple stitch lengths (like our Weave design).
Much like the traditional designs, this kit uses wool on canvas creating an incredibly durable and hard wearing finished piece. As you are stitching on unprinted canvas, you will count the number of holes for each stitch length. Whilst you need patience at the beginning, you will soon get the hang of how the pattern repeats.

About the range
This range of kits is based on the centuries old tradition of Bargello stitching. Bargello designs use a combination of long stitches and repeat patterns to create geometric designs. You will choose your kit from scratch, choosing from four different colour palettes, five different patterns, two different shapes, and no end of finishing options.
Finishing your cushion
Cushion finishing materials
It can be overwhelming knowing where to begin when deciding how to finish your cushion, so we wanted to make this process simpler with a carefully curated range of finishing materials. We stock backing fabrics, tassel kits and a range of piping to make up your cushion.
We work with a seamstress who can make your cushions up for you. If you are in the UK and interested in this option, send an email to studio@thefabledthread.com. Or otherwise, if you are a dab hand with a sewing machine, we have a how to video here showing you how to do this process.
How-to Guide
This video shows you all the steps to stitch one of the Bargello cushions. We recommend everyone stitching a cushion watches the introduction, up to 7 min 40s, then there is a part for each of the specific designs. These are as follows: Flame (7m40s), Feathers (8m45s), Lanterns (10m8s), Weave (11m35s) and Florentine (13m).
