Schumacher X The Fabled Thread
Our The Fabled Thread X Schumacher collection is bursting with colour and pattern. The designs take inspiration from the naive, patterned still-life paintings of Matisse, Paul Aizpiri and Sophy Regensburg, combined with fabrics from Schumacher's extraordinary collection.

A shared obsession with pattern
If you haven't already gathered it, we are a little colour and pattern mad at The Fabled Thread. So when Schumacher approached us to create a small collection based on their extraordinary range, it was understandably a dream project. Whilst we explored various design concepts, from rag rugs to Americana and samplers, but we ultimately fixed on the idea of the patterned still life, taking inspiration from Matisse, Paul Aizpiri, Sophy Regensberg and more, to create our interpretation of a classic. The floral still life, Fabled Thread style.
What's included in a needlepoint kit?

Everything you need to get started
Each kit includes a bespoke sewing bag, the design printed on the canvas, pre-cut lengths of wool, needles and detailed instructions.
Needlepoint is about as relaxing as embroidery as the whole design is stitched in one stitch onto a pre-printed canvas. Almost like colouring by numbers! With no complicated stitches to learn, this stitching gives you the opportunity to completely switch off and unwind, whilst creating a cushion to last a lifetime.Finishing your cushion

What materials do you need?
It can be overwhelming knowing where to begin when deciding how to finish your cushion, so we wanted to make this process simpler with a carefully curated range of finishing materials. We stock backing fabrics, tassel kits and a range of piping to make up your cushion and we have a how-to video showing you how to do this process. Alternatively, we work with a seamstress who can make your cushions up for you - find out more about that here.
Our how-to video guides
How-to guides
When we send a kit to you, that's just the first part of your stitching journey. Don't worry - you aren't going to be abandoned to work out how to make it! We have a video guide, which will show you the key stitching stages, so if you are picking up a needle for the first time, we will guide you the whole time. We never get questions about how to do our kits and believe that is the best sign for how easy they are to complete!
