Needlepoint

Hoopoe

€295.95

Part of our wonderful collaboration with British artist and printmaker Mark Hearld, this needlepoint kit brings his distinctive artwork to life in wool and stitch. Inspired by the flora and fauna of the British countryside, Mark's work is celebrated for its extraordinary use of colour, pattern and texture.

We've worked carefully to translate the intricate details of his original collages into needlepoint, capturing everything from the subtle variations in his hand-painted papers to the expressive marks of his oil pastels.

These round cushions are large and measure 50cm by 50cm finished. It is a large project and would expect to take 9 to 12 months to complete if you are stitching for a few hours a week! The kit includes a 14-count printed canvas, all the wool pre-cut into stitching lengths, tapestry needles, a printed stitch chart and detailed instructions. Worked entirely in simple tent stitch, it's suitable for beginners as well as experienced stitchers.

Once completed, your needlepoint can be made into a beautiful cushion or framed as a piece of artwork to enjoy for years to come.

This kit also comes as a refill for Studio Members.

Behind The Collaboration

From collage to stitch

Mark Hearld is an artist I have admired for years, and someone I am very lucky to call a friend. His work is instantly recognisable for its wonderful use of colour, pattern and texture, bringing together collage, printmaking and painting to create extraordinary depictions of the natural world.

The challenge was to translate Mark's beautiful collages into needlepoint whilst retaining everything that makes his work so distinctive. From the subtle variations in his hand-painted papers to the rough edges of torn paper and bold marks of oil pastel, we have worked hard to capture all these details in wool and stitch.
