Mark Hearld x The Fabled Thread
We are delighted to introduce our collaboration with the wonderful British artist and printmaker Mark Hearld. Inspired by the flora and fauna of the British countryside, Mark's work is a joyful celebration of colour, pattern and the natural world. We have translated his extraordinary collages into a collection of needlepoint designs, capturing the rich colours, textures and intricate details of his original artwork. Designed to be as enjoyable to stitch as they are beautiful to display, these are pieces to treasure for generations.
Behind the collaboration

From Collage to Stitch
Mark Hearld is an artist I have admired for years, and someone I am very lucky to call a friend. His work is instantly recognisable for its wonderful use of colour, pattern and texture, bringing together collage, printmaking and painting to create extraordinary depictions of the natural world.
The challenge was to translate Mark's beautiful collages into needlepoint whilst retaining everything that makes his work so distinctive. From the subtle variations in his hand-painted papers to the rough edges of torn paper and bold marks of oil pastel, we have worked hard to capture all these details in wool and stitch.

What's included in a needlepoint kit?

Everything you need to get stitching
Our needlepoint kits contain everything you need to stitch your design, including a 14-count canvas with the design printed onto it, all the wool pre-cut into stitching lengths, tapestry needles, a printed stitch chart and detailed instructions.
Needlepoint is wonderfully simple to learn. The entire design is worked in tent stitch, so there are no complicated techniques to master. Think of it rather like painting by numbers, but with wool!
Whether you are completely new to needlepoint or have been stitching for years, these kits offer a lovely opportunity to slow down and create something beautiful.

Will I be able to make this?

Needlepoint is wonderfully simple to learn, even if you've never picked up a needle before. The design is printed directly onto the canvas, so you can think of it rather like painting by numbers, only with wool! You only need to master one simple stitch, and every kit includes detailed instructions to guide you through the process.
We've also put together a step-by-step video tutorial to help you get started, so whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned stitcher, you'll have everything you need to enjoy the process.
