Details of the course
Part 1: Welcome to the course:
This section will introduce to the course, talk through what we will cover and the materials that you are able to download to use alongside the course. I will also touch on where you can buy any other materials like paints and frames.
Part 2: Materials:
In this section we will go into more detail on the materials to use including the paints, frames, brushes and how to look after your materials
Part 3: Considerations on designing your frame:
In this section we start discussing all the elements which go into designing a frame from choosing the shape of the frame to the colour palette to the level of decoration. We cover this before starting to practice painting motifs.
Part 4: Hand painted motifs:
In this section we will begin painting and start with some simple, single colour motifs. These motifs cover simple techniques which can be applied in different ways to create impressive results.
Part 5: Layering motifs:
Having already introduced you to a number of motifs, we will now look at how they can be layered together in multiple colours to create designs which look complex but at their core are very simple.
Part 6: Planning your design:
We have already covered the considerations on designing a frame, and having practiced lots of different motifs, we now take a step back to look at how this all fits in to the overall design process for the frame, from base coating, to measuring out designs, to varnishing.
Part 7: Taking it to the next level:
In this section, we start experimenting with some additional ways of decoratively painting. This includes the techniques for stenciling, for using tape to create geometric designs and finally a special technique I have developed of using glass painting to create picture frame mounts.
