      About the course

      Part 1: Welcome

In this first module I will introduce myself, my work, explain why I fell head over heels in love with embroidery and my hope that you will do the same.

Part 2: How to use the course

Here we will go into detail on the materials you will need for the course, how I hope you will use the videos and the resources available as part of the course to enable you to practice.

      Part 3: Starting to stitch

In this video we will introduce all the essentials of sewing, such as how to use an embroidery hoop, thread a needle, tie a knot, move between areas of stitching and more. All the core steps you will use day-in and day-out in your embroidery practice.

      Part 4: Outline stitches

All our stitches are split down into sections of how I recommend they are used, with the first section being stitches for outlining. Here we will go through running stitch, chain stitch, stem stitch, hungarian braid and whipped stem stitch. Alongside this we will look at some examples of how I have used them in my own work.

      Part 5: Filling stitches

In this video I will guide you through the core stitches I use for filling; satin stitch and chain stitch. I will show you how to vary your approach to chain stitch if you are filling in.

      Part 6: Decorative stitches

The final stitches I will show you are my favourite for decorative work; french knots and whipped stem stitch. Showing you how to do french knots in a totally pain-free way.

      Part 7: Next steps

In the last video we will recap what we have learnt and I will show you how to practice your stitches using the downloadable designs on this course, creating some embroideries worthy of framing!

      NEW Part 8: Advanced stitches

In this bumper length video we will cover 3 advanced experimental stitching techniques: darning stitch, alternating whipped stem and Pekinese work.

    • Accompanying materials

Whilst you don't need a kit to go alongside the video course, we have developed an Embroidery Sampler which complements the videos. Each of the animals match the shapes which are embroidered on the course. This kit includes all you need to start stitching with a colourful patterned design printed on natural linen, a selection of threads, needles and an embroidery hoop.
